Flamingos, salt flats and the raw scenery of the Rift Valley.
Lake Natron lies in a hot, dry corner of the Rift Valley below Ol Doinyo Lengai. Its shallow, mineral-rich water turns deep red and pink in places and is the most important breeding site in East Africa for lesser flamingos. Most travellers spend two or three days here: walking to the Ngare Sero waterfalls, visiting the lake shore in the cooler hours, meeting Maasai families and, for those who want it, climbing Ol Doinyo Lengai overnight.

Slot Natron between Serengeti or Ngorongoro and Arusha for a wilder finish.
