Question 1

How much does it cost to climb Kilimanjaro?

Accepted Answer

Costs depend on the route, number of days, group size, season and services included. Park fees and crew costs make up a large share of any package. Our indicative Kilimanjaro packages start from around $1,550 per person, and we will send you a current quotation based on your exact plans.

Question 2

Which Kilimanjaro route is best for beginners?

Accepted Answer

Marangu and Machame are commonly chosen by first-time trekkers. Marangu uses huts and has a gentler gradient, while Machame offers better scenery and acclimatisation over 7 days. No route requires technical climbing, but all require good fitness and preparation.

Question 3

What is the cheapest Kilimanjaro route?

Accepted Answer

Shorter itineraries such as the 6-day Marangu route are usually the lowest priced because fewer days mean fewer park and crew costs. Bear in mind that longer routes generally give more time to acclimatise.

Question 4

How many days do I need to climb Kilimanjaro?

Accepted Answer

Most itineraries run between 6 and 9 days on the mountain. Adding a day usually improves your acclimatisation and comfort.

Question 5

Can I join a group trek?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We arrange joining group departures throughout the year, which is often the most affordable way to climb.

Question 6

Can I book a private Kilimanjaro trek?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Private treks can start on any date you choose and can be tailored to your pace and preferences.

Question 7

What is included in a Kilimanjaro package?

Accepted Answer

Typically park and camping or hut fees, guides, porters and cook, camping equipment where applicable, meals on the mountain, drinking water and transfers to and from the gate. Flights, visas, insurance, tips and personal gear are normally excluded. Your quotation lists exactly what is included.

Question 8

Do you provide airport transfers?

Accepted Answer

Yes, airport transfers from Kilimanjaro International Airport can be included on request.

Question 9

Can I combine Kilimanjaro with a safari?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and it is one of our most popular combinations. We can add a 3 to 7 day safari before or after your trek.

Question 10

Can I combine Kilimanjaro, safari and Zanzibar?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A common structure is trek first, then safari, then a few relaxed days in Zanzibar.

Question 11

What should I pack for Kilimanjaro?

Accepted Answer

Layered clothing, a warm insulated jacket, waterproofs, broken-in boots, a sleeping bag rated for cold temperatures, gloves, a hat, headtorch and personal items. We send a full packing list after booking, and some equipment can be hired locally.

Question 12

When is the best time to climb Kilimanjaro?

Accepted Answer

The drier months from late June to October and from January to mid-March are the most popular. Kilimanjaro can be climbed year-round, but the long rains around April and May are wetter.

Question 13

How far in advance should I book?

Accepted Answer

Three to six months ahead is comfortable for peak season. Shorter notice is often possible depending on availability.

Question 14

What payment methods are available?

Accepted Answer

We will confirm the available payment options in your quotation, usually including bank transfer. A deposit secures your dates and the balance is settled before your trip.

Question 15

Can you customize my itinerary?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Days, routes, accommodation level and destinations can all be adjusted to your budget and interests.
